MEET SHARON

Sharon Stewart is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). She offers personalized, one-on-one nutrition counseling in the Ukiah area.  She specializes in consulting people wanting to lose weight, age better, improve gut health as well as nutrition check-ups for general well-being.  

 

For the past fifteen years, Sharon has been improving the lives of many people.  She offers a no-nonsense approach to nutrition, providing clients with a common sense nutrition program, tailored to their individual lifestyles – in other words, a program that can be lived with, permanently.  She is a firm believer that exercise is an integral part of any nutrition program, and will design a program that fits her clients’ lifestyles.

Sharon holds a Masters of Science degree in Nutrition and Applied Physiology from Columbia University and her dietetic internship from Stanford University.  She has worked as a research dietitian at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Boston. There, she collaborated in a study looking at the effect of strength training and weight loss on bone density in post-menopausal women, the results of which spearheaded the book Strong Women Stay Young (1997) by Miriam Nelson, PhD.  She co-authored the book The Diabetes Weight Loss System (1999), and was a contributing author to The California Wine Country Diet (2005).  She co-led a nutrition and aging workshop, presented nationally to health-care professionals

 

She is certified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a member of the Nutrition Entrepreneur Practice Group.  She is also a certified LEAP (Lifestyle, Eating and Performance) practitioner, providing food sensitivity testing for many inflammatory conditions.
